  • Meet Abby F
    Abby is a tutor who specializes in English language arts, history and humanities, math and science for ages 4-14, and yoga. She has been teaching for 10 years and enjoys tutoring because of the constant surprises, need for creativity, and the ability to see results in real time as her students progress. She has a TEFL 120 hours certification, a BA in Sociology from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA and an E-RYT 500 hours Yoga certification. Abby uses a variety of tactics to help students develop self-confidence in learning, including determining the student's preferred learning method and relating new topics to things that are already familiar to them. She also provides positive and constructive feedback as needed and follows a trauma informed approach to ensure that students feel seen and respected. Some of the common challenges students encounter in tutoring sessions include feeling frustrated, comparing themselves to peers, being bored, and difficulty staying engaged. The most fulfilling part of tutoring for Abby is seeing her students' progress from their first to last session, as well as seeing them pass exams and get promotions. She believes that JBE Tutoring is different from other tutoring work she has done as it is more tailored to individual students' needs, and is more personal and friendly. Abby is also of the opinion that JBE Tutoring is more culturally sensitive for Jewish students. The sessions are personalized according to the student's (or parent's) preferences, and topics, curriculum and methods used, as well as the frequency of the sessions are decided by the student. Abby takes notes on the student's progress and studies the materials prior to the sessions to help them reach success.     Brian is originally from New York and has spent over 20 years living in Asia. He holds a B.S. in Management and is a certified ESL tutor. Brian is a tutor who teaches English Language Arts, English as a Second Language, and Elementary Math. He has over a decade of teaching experience and has taught students from more than 15 different countries. Brian enjoys tutoring because it is fulfilling to contribute to a student's aspirations. He has found that common challenges students face in tutoring sessions include focus, motivation, and follow-through. The most fulfilling part of being a tutor for Brian is seeing a student become independent in their learning. He personalizes sessions by carefully assessing a student's skills and needs, and helps students reach success by providing the necessary support. In his free time, Brian enjoys reading classic British mysteries and hard science fiction, and his favorite food is spicy Thai beef and basil.   • Meet Dani Ella Y
    Dani Ella is a dedicated and experienced tutor who has been teaching for many years. She is originally from New Jersey and of Egyptian origin. Dani Ella specializes in subjects such as algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, biology, chemistry, physics, English, history and also offers tutoring in Spanish and Arabic. Dani Ella's passion for tutoring comes from her love of kids and her desire to build their confidence in their academic abilities. She finds it extremely fulfilling when she sees her students succeed and retain the knowledge they've learned with her. What sets the experience apart from her other tutoring work is that JBE students tend to be more intrinsically motivated and dedicated to their academic journey. To help her students develop self-confidence in learning, Dani Ella uses various tactics such as demonstrating effective study skills and strategies like taking notes, referencing notes, and using search engines to research topics they're unsure about. She's also aware that students may face common challenges in tutoring sessions, such as lack of focus and motivation.     Daniella Hoffman is a highly experienced and certified teacher with over 23 years of experience in the field. She is originally from the USA, and is fluent in five languages. Daniella specializes in tutoring ESL, Spanish, Math, Science, Social Studies, and ELA. She found JBE Tutoring through a close friend, Johanna, who is also a teacher with JBE. Daniella has a Masters in Education, and is certified to teach pre-k through 8th grade. Daniella's approach to tutoring is highly personalized and focuses on building self-confidence in her students. She lets her students know how important they are to her and praises them highly when they execute a skill they’ve been working on. Daniella also tries to ease her student’s nerves by getting to know them and finding something they have in common. To help students leave their comfort zones, Daniella discovers their interests and immediately builds their classes on their passions to make learning fun. Daniella has found that one of the most common challenges students encounter in tutoring sessions is not having the basic skills because they were never taught about them. However, the most fulfilling part of being a tutor for Daniella is being able to meet all her amazing students and seeing them progress from their first to last session. Daniella's session is personalized to accommodate her student's needs in the way they have indicated they like to learn, whether it be through videos, games, etc. To help her students reach success, Daniella first assesses them at their current level to have baseline data and then begins to build curriculum. In her free time, Daniella is a scuba diver and has been certified since she was 15. She has filled her dive log with dives from all over the world. Daniella also loves Italian food, particularly pasta, as she learned how to make many different pasta dishes when she lived in Italy for a year. Daniella is married to her best friend for 22 years, and they have four incredible teenagers who are paving their own paths in this world. She enjoys spending time with her family and they love watching movies, playing games, doing outdoor activities and going to the beaches together.
  • Meet Donna
    Donna, one of our esteemed tutors from Dumont NJ, has been teaching for over 30 years in public and private settings. She really enjoys working with children and using her educational background to help her students succeed. She creates charts, games and activities to allow her students to thrive. One thing that Donna does to personalize each session is by keeping a notebook for every student and writing down notes during their lesson. This helps her reference the notes to make sure she’s addressing each student and their unique learning style as well as incorporating their interests into each lesson.   • Meet Dave B
    Meet Dave, one JBE’s incredible tutors. Dave is from Oradell, NJ and graduated with a Mathematics degree. His favorite food is Chicken Parm, and he collects baseball and football cards. Dave’s most fulfilling part of being a tutor is hearing when a student did well on a test. Dave helps students gain the most from their tutoring session by making sure that each student is working on the area that needs improvement, in a way that is tailor made for them to succeed. He makes sure the sessions are individually set up for what that student's weakness is.
  • Meet David K
    David is a tutor from Cincinnati, Ohio who specializes in middle and high school mathematics, high school physical science, physics, and statistics. He has been teaching for several years and enjoys tutoring because it allows him to help students see the connections in the material, which he believes is crucial to understanding. He has a double major B.S degree in mathematics and statistics with a minor in English and a graduate degree in M.A in teaching and an M.S in mathematics. He uses tactics such as building on material students already know to help them develop self-confidence in learning. He has found that a common challenge students face is seeing the value in the material and the most fulfilling part of tutoring for him is when students are able to make connections and master difficult material. In his free time, David is a big football fan and enjoys playing and coaching football.     Elizabeth is a certified English tutor, originally from Iowa. She has been teaching for several years and specializes in ESL, enrichment, conversational practice, interview prep, and professional English. She finds joy in building relationships with her students and giving them the tools they need to be successful in language learning. She particularly enjoys the one-on-one nature of tutoring and the ability to customize lessons to each student's needs. To help students develop self-confidence, Elizabeth encourages and compliments their progress, provides a comfortable and engaging lesson environment, and focuses on each student's individual goals. When Elizabeth found JBE Tutoring she was impressed with their approach to embrace her teaching style, develop customized content for each group/student, and always feel personally supported by leadership.   • Meet Eryn J
    Eryn is a wife and mother of two who lives outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Eryn has a BA in Environmental Science and Earth Science Education and a MEd in Educational Strategies and Development. She has 10 years of experience teaching Earth Science in a traditional classroom and has taught English online for two years. Eryn truly enjoys helping students learn! Teaching to small groups makes it possible to tailor lessons to student interests and questions in order to make lessons interesting for each class. Positive reinforcement it is a big part of Eryn's classes to help students build their self-confidence. She believes that every success deserves recognition, even if it is as simple as a virtual high five. JBE Tutoring gives tutors the flexibility to build their own curriculum based on their students' needs.     Helen was born in Brooklyn, New York and is a mother of two. After graduating high school, she attended a six-month kibbutz ulpan program in Israel. Helen was a legal assistant at some of New York’s top 100 law firms. Over the course of 20+ years, she had the good fortune to work with prestigious, well- known, high-profile clients, courts, officers of national and international companies. Also, mastered the various disciplines of law: patent and trademark, corporate business, real estate and white-collar litigation. Helen began her amazing second career as an English teacher, teaching English as a second language at some of Israel’s top language schools: Open University, Berlitz, private colleges and TriEnglish. Most importantly, to have had some part in helping students of all ages and at all levels, (the military and hi tech) advance their communication skills both personally and professionally.     Jeanine is a dedicated JBE tutor and teacher of English with two Masters degrees. She finds great joy in tutoring as it allows her to meet amazing students and make a positive impact on their education. The most fulfilling part of tutoring for her is when a student smiles and says “Thank you”, as it shows that they value their education. To help students leave their comfort zone, Jeanine avoids creating pressure and allows them to participate in the way they feel comfortable. She has been teaching for 15 years and specializes in Basic Skills and English as a Second Language. Jeanine has been practicing Spanish for years, traveling the world, and living with Spanish speaking families to improve her language skills.   • Meet Jon S
    Jon is a California state certified social science teacher with over 18 years of experience teaching both in the classroom and online, he is highly qualified in California to teach math, science, and English, and holds a 120-Hour TESOL certificate. Jon is originally from Buffalo, NY and has worked with thousands of students since he began teaching in 2005, including English Language Learners, those who are gifted and talented, those with IEPs, and those who have 504. Since 2019, he has taught almost 5,000 one-on-one or small group online tutoring sessions in all subjects to students between the ages of 3 and 18 who live all over the world. Before 2019, he worked at an independent study charter school in San Diego for eleven years where he taught all subjects to students in grades 6-12. Jon uses a whole child approach so that he can make learning useful, engaging, and fun! he likes to get to know his students' personalities, learning styles, and strengths and weaknesses so that he can customize lessons that will help them build their confidence and meet their short- and long-term academic goals. Jon is also an award-winning/represented novelist, screenwriter, songwriter, and guitarist, and has experience teaching Spanish to non-native speakers, as well.

Jonathan has been teaching for 15, his educational background is a degree in Biological Science and Economics. Some of the tactics Jonathan uses to help students get self-confidence and overcome challenges is by encouraging students to study every single day. That’s the best way to get the best results. The most fulfilling part of tutoring for Jonathan is when he helps students improve their score on a grade in a class or a standardized test, that helps them achieve a larger goal such as admission to the college of their choice and this makes a positive difference in their life. He also personalizes the sessions by asking them where they want to focus on. By allowing the students to go through their questions with Jonathan, he can then get a better understanding for their knowledge and help them fill the gaps.

    Kathryn grew up moving around the US and parts of Asia because her dad was in the US Marines. She graduated high school in Okinawa, Japan and her family is originally from Texas. She tutors math and science subjects like calculus, algebra, chemistry, biology, and physics, and has a degree in biomedical engineering. Kathryn originally planned to work in a lab, but after a few semesters, she found it wasn't for her and started a tutoring business in college instead. She believes that making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process and helps students build self-confidence. She has noticed that lack of focus is a common challenge for students and finds it fulfilling when students master the material and do well on exams. To be effective, Kathryn believes in personalizing her approach by listening to and observing students to understand their specific struggles and goals, and following up to ensure they achieve success.

She found JBE Tutoring through a Facebook group for English teachers and language schools. Louisa has a B.S. in Education with TESOL certification and a Masters in Communications. Some tactics she uses to help students develop self-confidence in learning are practice, practice, practice in many different ways, focusing on the positive, recapping improvement, providing kind correction, and giving students opportunities to improve and succeed while having fun and learning about relative topics. Some common challenges students encounter in tutoring sessions include different learning levels, different interests, conflicts with work or family schedules, and pronunciation challenges. The most fulfilling part of being a tutor for Louisa is knowing she helps people be and feel successful and often times, improve their careers. She finds the JBE experience different from other tutoring work she has done in that the leadership is very supportive and positive towards tutors and she feels valued. To help students leave their comfort zones, she first makes sure they know that her tutoring space is a safe space and then does a variety of activities that are not always typical.     Matthew is one of JBE’s amazing tutors who specializes in helping students in learning English as a second language, accent reduction, as well as teaching social studies. Matthew holds a BA in Political Science and Fine Art from SUNY Albany and a TESOL Certificate from TEFL International. He helps students leave their comfort zones with his fun personality and through learning games. Each session is personalized around the student’s needs and goals. If he could visit anywhere in the world Matthew would enjoy a trip to the UK or Northern Europe.     Meet our respected tutor, Natalie. Natalie tutors in different aspects of English; Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, and Grammer. Her background is a Masters in Teaching. Some fun facts about Natalie is that she would love to explore Europe, in her free time she can be found writing, reading or listening to music. Natalie helps her students leave their comfort zone by letting their fear and anxiety dissipate by making the lessons fun and engaging. She also individualizes each tutoring lesson by finding readings and other topics that interest each student. She has been teaching for 7 years, and loves tutoring because of her passion to help others.   • Meet Sherri
    Meet Sherri, a respected tutor at JBE Tutor, who has been teaching full-time for 18 years, working with students in elementary and middle school. In addition to this, she has been working with high school students tutoring them or teaching SAT and ACT test preparation. She enjoys working with all ages whether it is teaching reading and writing or improving conversational skills in English. Her philosophy is that patience and guidance in conjunction with good teaching leads to student success. It is like a recipe, sometimes it needs an adjustment of the ingredients. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, swimming, and traveling. She is a mom to three children and two Goldendoodles. A quote she often shares with her students, “If you think you can, you can.     Telly Taylor is a tutor who has been teaching for over 20 years, and specializes in ESL, Language Arts, literature, and writing. She is originally from Pennsylvania, and enjoys tutoring because it allows her to have one-on-one contact with students, which she believes can greatly benefit them. She has an educational background in education, specifically in ESL, reading fundamentals and ACEs. To help students develop self-confidence in learning, Telly uses tactics such as showing them how much progress they have made. The most rewarding aspect of tutoring for Telly is when a student finally understands a concept they previously struggled with.
